Five Things in Waukee: A Legislative Breakfast, the Food Pantry, Library Fun and Waukee Sports

Here's everything you need to know today, Dec. 8, and some other stuff too.

1) Westside Legislative Breakfast

Join the Waukee, West Des Moines, Clive and Windsor Heights Chambers of Commerce for a presentation and question and answer session with local elected legislators beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the .  Cost is $20.00 per person and includes breakfast.

2) Waukee Area Food Pantry Services

The is open today from 9-11 a.m. offering non-perishable food and personal items for those living in the Waukee School District or those with approval from local churches. The food pantry is located in the lower level of .

3) Toddlertime and Pajama Time at the Waukee Public Library

The is hosting two fun family activities today. Toddlertime is for ages 18 months to 3 years and is offered at 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Toddlers and caregivers will enjoy songs, finger-plays, and read-aloud stories, followed by playtime.

Pajama Time family storytime will be held tonight at 6:45 p.m. It's open to the entire family.

4) Waukee Sports

Looking to catch a game today? There are several Warrior teams playing.

The boys and girls bowling teams face Ankeny today at AMF Lanes, 3839 E. 14th St. in Des Moines. The boys JV and varsity and girls varsity teams will all compete beginning at 3:30 p.m. The girls JV game has been cancelled.

The 8th grade girls basketball team will also face Ankeny today at Northview Middle School at 4:30 p.m.

The Waukee Middle School 7th grade matmen will wrestle Johnston and Fort Dodge-Phillips at Fort Dodge-Phillips Middle School, 1015 5th Ave N. in Fort Dodge today at 4:30 p.m.

The Waukee Middle School 8th grade wrestlers will take on South Middle School, Johnston and Fort Dodge at Fort Dodge-Phillips Middle School in Fort Dodge beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The Waukee High School JV and varsity wrestlers will take on Indianola and Knoxville beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Waukee High School.

The Waukee JV and varsity boys swim teams will be at Southeast Polk tonight at 6 p.m. at 8325 N.E. University Ave., Pleasant Hill.

5) Waukee Parks & Recreation Holiday Lights Tour

Join the Waukee Parks and Recreation for a relaxing tour of area holiday lights on Dec. 14. Meet at the Waukee Community Center at 6 p.m. and arrive back around 8 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Call the Waukee Parks and Recreation Office at (515) 978-0007 for more information. Registration is $10 for adults. Children are free with a paid adult.
