Five Things in Waukee: Bands Compete, Rick Santorum, Santa Claus and Waukee Sports

Here's everything you need to know today, Dec. 10, and some other stuff too.

1) SCIBA Jazz Competition

The South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association (SCIBA) Jazz Festival will take place today at Waukee High School beginning at 8 a.m. There are 16 central Iowa teams competing in the jazz band competition. Waukee will perform at 9:12 a.m. and 2:24 p.m. in the Waukee High School gym. A third performance will take place at 4 p.m. in the Waukee High School Auditorium.

2) Immanuel Lutheran Church Cookie Walk

The Immanuel Lutheran Church Annual Cookie Walk will be held today from 9 to 11 a.m. this morning at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.  

3) Waukee Sports

Looking to cheer on your Warriors today? Check out the varsity wrestling tournament vs. Panorama at Panorama High School at 9 a.m. this morning.

The boys varsity invitational swim meet vs. Hoover High School will take place at the Hoover High School pool starting at 12:00 p.m.

4) Santa and his Reindeer at Peoples Bank & Trust

Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and a real life reindeer will make a stop in Waukee today the Peoples Trust & Savings Bank from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kids can stop by and sit on Santa's lap, grab a cookie and hot chocolate and vote for their favorite entry in the coloring contest.

The event is free and is open to the public.

1) Senator Rick Santorum at Point of Grace Church-CANCELED

Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum visit to the Point of Grace Church in Waukee has been canceled.
