Five Things in Waukee: Reading, Writing, Planning & Zoning and Some Crazy Weather

Here's everything you need to know today, Feb. 28, and some other stuff, too.

1) Activities at the Waukee Public Library

Looking for something to do today? Why not check out some of the activities at the ? The Playful Preschoolers class, for children ages 3 to 6, includes read-aloud stories, songs and rhymes followed by a craft. It's offered at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. today.

Are you a writer? Are you interested in meeting other writers to compare, critique, and expand your abilities? The Writer's Group meets at the library on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

2) Waukee Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting

The Waukee Planning & Zoning Commission will meet tonight at 6 p.m. in the Waukee City Hall Council Chambers. The next meeting of the commission will be held March 13.

3) Walnut Hills Elementary 3rd Grade Fine Arts Night

The Walnut Hills Elementary 3rd grade Fine Arts Night will be held this evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. There is no charge to attend.

4) Citizen of the Year Nominations

Nomination forms are now being accepted for the 2011 Waukee Citizen of the Year.  Each year, the city of Waukee honors a citizen chosen for their hard work and dedication during the previous year.  If you would like to nominate a citizen who you believe deserves special recognition for their service and dedication to the community, click here for a nomination form and submission details:  http://www.waukee.org/news/article189.html. 5) Today's Weather
