Five Things in Waukee: Food Pantry, Toddler and Pajama Time, a Movie and Non-Profits

Waukee Area Christian Services food pantry is open today from 9-11 a.m. offering non-perishable food and personal items for those living in the Waukee School District or those with approval from local churches. The food pantry is located in the lower level of .

2) Toddlertime and Pajama Time at the Waukee Public Library

The is hosting two fun family activities today. Toddlertime is for ages 18 month to 3 years and is offered at 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Toddlers and caregivers will enjoy songs, finger-plays, and read-aloud stories, followed by playtime.

Pajama Time family storytime will be held tonight at 6:45 p.m. It's open to the entire family.

3) "Green Fire" at the Waukee Public Library

"Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time" is showing today at the Waukee Public Library beginning at 6:30 p.m.

"Green Fire" is a documentary made about famed conservationist Aldo Leopold and his relationship to modern conservation. In conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service, the movie is being shown only in select areas.

The movie is being sponsored by the Raccoon River Watershed Association.

5) Did You Know?

Did you know that the approved a policy earlier this year that limits funding for area non-profits? As part of the new policy, Waukee area organizations need to apply for funding in the upcoming 2013 budget year by submitting a formal letter to the city. The deadline for this letter is Nov. 30, 2011.
