Five Things in Waukee: Pinewood Derby, Youth Basketball, Waukee Sports and the Eason Carnival

Here's everything you need to know today, Jan. 28, and some other stuff, too.

1) Pack 178 Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby

The Pack 178 Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby will be held today at Waukee Middle School beginning at 8 a.m.

2) YMCA Youth Basketball Tournaments

The YMCA of Greater Des Moines Youth Basketball Tournament for 7th grade boys will take place today at Maple Grove Elementary beginning at 9 a.m.

The YMCA of Greater Des Moines Youth Basketball Tournament for the 3rd and 4th grade girls will take place at Waukee Elementary School beginning at 9 a.m.

3) Waukee Sports

Come out and support your Warrior athletics teams today!

There is a varsity wrestling tournament vs. Ames at Ames High School today beginning at 10 a.m.

The JV wrestlers will face Fort Dodge at Fort Dodge High School also at 10 a.m.

The girls JV and varsity basketball teams will play Cedar Rapids Washington today at Cedar Rapids Washington High School. The JV team plays at 5 p.m. with the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

4) Fueling Peak Performance at Absolute Performance Therapy

Athletes of all ages and sports, parents and coaches are encouraged to attend this free presentation from speakers Alyssa Subbert and Josh Lawrence, today at Absolute Performance Therapy from 1-2:30 p.m. They will discuss how to start a resistance training program based on your needs, foods that increase the body's endurance during activity, nutrients that help that body recover from difficult work outs, and more! 5) Eason Elementary Winter Carnival

Eason’s Winter Carnival will be held today at Prairieview Elementary School from 4 to 7 p.m. All Eason Elementary students, teachers, staff, and their families are invited. There will be carnival games with prizes, a magician and snacks. There is no charge to attend.
