Five Things in Waukee: Shop Small, Youth Basketball, and a Beginner's Wrestling Tournament

1) Small Business Saturday

American Express along with several other big businesses is sponsored Small Business Saturday today. Holiday shoppers are urged to shop small and stay local to support their communities.

2) First & Second Grade Waukee YMCA Basketball Clinics

The will host a basketball clinic today at beginning at 9 a.m. The clinics are open to first and second grade students. Registration for the first and second grade basketball leagues will begin Dec. 1. The season will run February through March. More information will be available by registration.

3) Third-Seventh Grade Waukee YMCA Basketball Leagues

The Waukee YMCA will host basketball league games today at at 9 a.m. Leagues Games also take place at Maple Grove and Brookview Elementary schools.  Extended league registration will begin Jan. 1. League games start Feb. 4.  There are no practices during the week for this program, only games on Saturdays.

4) Waukee Youth Wrestling Turkey Classic Beginners Tournament

The Waukee Youth Wrestling Turkey Classic Beginners Tournament will be held today beginning at 9 a.m. at Waukee High School. The tournament is for youth wrestlers, kindergarten to eighth grade, with little to no wrestling experience. Weigh-in begins at 7 a.m. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded for first through fifth places.

5) Today's Weather

Today, expect a little rain with a high of 46. Tonight, much of the same with a low near 42.
