Five Things in Waukee: Skiing, "Rio," Michele Bachmann and the Jolly Holiday Lights
Here's everything you need to know today, Dec. 28, and some other stuff, too.

1) Seven Oaks Boone Ski Trip         Â
Students in fourth through eighth grade can spend a full day skiing at Seven Oaks in Boone today. Attendees will depart around 9 a.m. from Waukee City Hall and will return at 5 p.m. There will be six hours of skiing and a mini-ski lesson. Participants must dress warm and bring spending money for lunch and snacks. Kids are welcome to bring their own sack lunch and snacks.

2) Family Movie Day at the Waukee Public Library
Bring the whole family to the Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. for Family Movie Day. The library is showing "Rio" (rated G). Popcorn and cupcakes will be provided and attendees are asked to bring along their own beverages.

3) Michele Bachmann at Waukee Pizza Ranch
Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann will be at the Waukee Pizza Ranch tonight beginning at 6:30 p.m. Bachmann is holding the meet-and-greet as part of her 99 Counties bus tour across Iowa.
4) Today's Weather
Enjoy today's unseasonably good weather. Today will be partly cloudy with a high near 46. Tonight, much of the same with a low around 31.
5) Jolly Holiday Lights
If you're having withdrawl from the holidays, there is still time to take in the sights of the Jolly Holiday Lights at Water Works Park in Des Moines. The lights display benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Hours are 5:30 to 10 p.m. every evening through Jan. 1. Cost is $10 per car.
