Five Things in Waukee: Snow Ordinance, Waukee Sports, Home Grown Tomatoes and Snow
Here's everything you need to know today, Jan. 20, and some other stuff, too.

1) Snow Ordinance
There is a snow ordinance in effect until Saturday, Jan. 21 at 6:00 p.m. for the city of Waukee. If snow amounts increase, the ordinance may be extended. Residents are advised to move all vehicles off the street to allow for snow plowing.

The JV girls basketball team will face Ames at Waukee High School at 4:45 p.m. The girls varsity plays at 6:15 p.m. and the boys varsity team follows at 7:45 p.m.

3) RSVP to the 2012 Waukee Chamber Annual Dinner Today
The will host its annual 2012 Chamber Dinner and Silent Auction on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 5-8:30 pm. at the West Des Moines Marriott.
The event will include a silent auction, dinner, talent show and program highlighting Chamber accomplishments in 2011.
Attendees are encouraged to RSVP to www.waukeechamber.com/registration by the end of the day today.
4) The Home Grown Tomatoes at ArtsCentral Saturday
The Home Grown Tomatoes will perform at ArtsCentral Saturday at 7 p.m Mixing humor and energy in every performance, a Home Grown Tomatoes show is an organic music mix of life in Iowa. Their performance is a combination of American Gothic yearning, mid-western practicality, and stubborn romanticism mixed with humor and terminal sensibility.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and are available by calling (515) 402-7870, at Waukee Hardware or at the door the night of the performance (if seating is available).
5) Today's Weather
Expect snow today with a possible 1 to 2 inches of accumulation and a high near 14 and wind chill values as low as -10. Tonight, a 40 percent chance of snow with a low around -1 and wind chills as low as -15.
