Five Things in Waukee: The Library, Food Pantry & Free Clinic, a Fine Arts Night and Sports

1) Activities at the Waukee Public Library

Looking for something to do with the kids today? The has a few new activities.

Whimsical Ones is for babies and toddlers ages 12-24 months. Children and caregivers will enjoy songs, finger plays and read-aloud stories, followed by playtime. Whimsical Ones meets at 10 a.m.

Time for Twos is for toddlers 2-3 years-old. Children and caregivers will enjoy songs, finger plays, and read-aloud stories, followed by playtime. Time for Twos meets at 11 a.m.

For students interested in leadership at the Waukee Public Library, the Teen Advisory Board will meet today at 3:30 p.m. at the library. Teen advisers volunteer at the library, plan teen programs and run fundraisers. They also assist in the selection of young adult materials.

2) Waukee Food Pantry and Free Clinic Open Today

will be open today for those people living in the Waukee School District or for those with approval from local churches to receive non-perishable food and personal items. The pantry is open from 4 to 6 p.m.

will also be open today, 6 to 8 p.m. Registration is from 5:30 - 7 p.m. The free clinic provides everything from high blood pressure treatment to care for a cold or even minor injury.

There will also be a family nurtrition class at 6 p.m. where you can learn various ways to make easy, healthy, affordable meals and snacks at the Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry.

Both the Waukee Food Pantry and the Waukee Free Clinic are housed in lower level of the Westview Church.

3) Waukee Sports

Come out and cheer on your favorite Waukee athletics teams today.

The Waukee Middle School 8th grade boys basketball will host Southeast Polk today at at 4:30 p.m.

The Waukee South Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team will play Ankeny at at 4:30 p.m.

The Waukee 9th grade boys basketball team faces Urbandale at at 4:45 p.m.

The Waukee 9th grade girls basketball team plays Urbandale High School at Urbandale at 6:30 p.m.

The Waukee High School wrestlers compete against Marshalltown at Marshalltown High School tonight. The JV team is up at 6:30 p.m. with the varsity meet at 7:30 p.m.

The Waukee High School JV boys basketball team plays Marshalltown at at 7 p.m.

4) Waukee Elementary 2nd Grade Fine Arts Night

The 2nd grade Fine Arts Night will be held this evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. There is no charge to attend.
