Five Things in Waukee: Youth Basketball, "Dancing at Lughnasa," The Java Jews and Waukee Sports
Here's everything you need to know today, Jan. 7, and some other stuff too.

1) Third-Seventh Grade Waukee YMCA Basketball Leagues
The Waukee YMCA will host basketball league games today at at 9 a.m. Leagues Games also take place at Maple Grove and Brookview Elementary schools. Extended league registration began Jan. 1. League games start Feb. 4. There are no practices during the week for this program, only games on Saturdays.
2) "Dancing at Lughnasa" at the Theatre Arts Center

There are two performances of the Waukee Theatre Arts production of "Dancing at Lughnasa" today at the Theatre Arts Center at at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at http://www.seatyourself.biz/waukeetheatrearts.

3) The Java Jews at ArtsCentral
The Java Jews, a klezmer band, will play at as part of the 's Home Grown Talent series tonight at 7 p.m.
Klezmer music immigrated to the United States in the late 1800s and early 1900s by way of the European Jews. The music mixes elements of both pop and jazz music.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and are available by calling (515) 402-7870, at Waukee Hardware or at the door the night of the performance (if seating is available).
4) Waukee Sports
Support your Waukee Warrior sports teams today.
The JV wrestlers will take on Des Moines North at North High School at 9 a.m. this morning.
The varsity wrestling squad will wrestle Winterset High School at Winterset High School in Winterset at 9:30 a.m.
The boys varsity swimming invitational vs. Johnston High School will be at Summit Middle School in Johnston at 11 a.m.
The girls JV and varsity basketball teams will face vs. Cedar Rapids Kennedy today at Waukee High School. The JV girls tip-off at 5 p.m. The varsity girls game will follow at 6:30 p.m.
