Five Things to Get You Through the Day in Waukee

1) Early Dismissal

Don't forget! Today is early dismissal for all Waukee Schools. Elementary schools will dismiss today at 1:40 p.m. Secondary schools dismiss at 12:50 p.m.

2) Activities at the Waukee Public Library

Looking for some fun for the kids today? Check out Playful Preschoolers at 10 a.m. at the Waukee Public Library. Playful Preschoolers is for children ages 3 to 6. It includes read-aloud stories, songs and rhymes followed by a craft.

Babies and Books also meets at 10 a.m. It's for pre-walkers (babies approximately birth to 18 mos.) with a caregiver. There will be songs, books and rhymes. Only one child per caregiver is recommended.

There will be a Teen Movie showing today at 1 p.m. The Library will be showing "Just Go With It."

3) Guiness World Record Holder Comes to Westwind Church Today

Bruce Crevier, a four-time Guinness Book of World Records record holder in basketball spinning, will be at Westwind Church today at South Middle School beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Crevier, his wofe and their 12 children, put on an energetic and inspiring show complete with tricks and life experience. For more information on Crevier's show, go to www.championsforever.com.

We meet at 6:30pm for a small group lesson and Parenting Seminar.  The programs begins at 7:00pm.  Bring friends.  All ages are welcome! South Middle School.

4) "Pursuit" by Life Changers Counseling

Life Changers Counseling is offering an eight week study session called "Pursuit: See as God Sees and Love as God Loves" beginning tonight at 6:30 p.m. The class has three sections: seeing God as He is, seeing ourselves as God sees us and seeing others as God sees them.

There is no cost to attend and children's programming will be available at the same time. Life Changers Counseling is located at Point of Grace Church.

5) Business After Hours at Mickey's Irish Pub

Join the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce for Business After Hours at Mickey's Irish Pub in Waukee today from 5 to 7 p.m. This event is sponsored by Mickey's to benefit the Waukee Family YMCA Y Partners Campaign.  Y Partners is the YMCA's annual campaign to ensure no one is turned away from Y membership, programs, and services due to inability to pay.  You can find out more information about Y Partners here.
