Five Things Waukee Residents Should Know: Council and School Board Meetings, Free Clinic and a Concert

Here's what's going on in Waukee today, Oct. 10, and some other stuff you might want to know.

1) Waukee City Council

The Waukee City Council will meet tonight for its regularly scheduled meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Waukee City Hall Chambers. If you miss this one, the next meeting will be held on Oct. 24.

2) Waukee School Board Meeting

The Waukee School Board will meet tonight for its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in the e board room. This will be the first meeting since a change in meeting nights was voted on and approved. The Waukee School Board now meets the second and fourth Mondays of the month. The next meeting of the school board will be Oct. 24

3) Food Pantry and Free Clinic Open Today

will be open today for those people living in the Waukee School District or for those with approval from local churches to receive non-perishable food and personal items. The pantry is open from 4 - 6 p.m.

will also be open today, 6 - 8 p.m. Registration is from 5:30 - 7 p.m. The free clinic provides everything from high blood pressure treatment to care for a cold or even minor injury.

 4) Walnut Hills Picture Retake Day

Parents of students wishing to have their child's school pictures retaken, wait no more. Today, students can get their photos redone today - all day - at Walnut Hills.  If you would like to have your child’s picture retaken, you will need to return the pictures you do not want to the photographer before they will retake your child’s picture.

5) Waukee High School Show Choir Debut Concert

Bass Clef Chorus, Cantate, Chorale, Intermezzo, A Cappella and the All-State students will all perform tonight beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Waukee High School Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
