Five Things Waukee Residents Should Know: Sept. 20

Here's what's going on in Waukee today and some other stuff you might want to know.

1) Volleyball, Volleyball and More Volleyball

The girls' volleyball teams are serving up more a couple home games today. The games, locations, and times are as follows:

  • 8th grade girls' volleyball vs. Fort Dodge - 4:30 at South Middle School
  • 8th grade girls' volleyball vs. Norwalk - 4:30 at Waukee Middle School
  • 9th grade volleyball vs. Mason City - 5 p.m. at Prairieview School
  • JV volleyball vs. Mason City - 5 p.m. at Waukee High School
  • Varsity volleyball vs. Mason City - 6:30 p.m. at Waukee High School

3) New Beginnings Childcare & Preschool Open House

The former Happy Time Daycare in the Point of Grace Church has moved. Now called New Beginnings Childcare & Preschool, the center will host an open house tonight from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Parents can tour the new facility (in the old Waukee Elementary building at 400 Locust St.), get information and register children for spots in the daycare.

4) Homecoming, Day 2 - Nerd Day

If you're playing along with the Waukee homecoming festivities, today is Nerd Day. Dress accordingly.

5) The Weather

Today we'll see partly sunny skies with a high near 78. Tonight, partly cloudy with a low around 49.
