Thursday

Head on over to Thursday and carve a pumpkin for the chance to win a $75 or $50 gift certificate. Mickey's will provide the pumpkins and carving tools. Judging will take place on Friday night with winners announced at 1 a.m.

Friday

The Waukee Park Board is sponsoring a haunted house at the enclosed shelter house on both Friday and Saturday, 7-10 p.m. Enter if you dare, but be prepared to be scared. This haunted house is not suggested for young children. Cost is $5 per person.

Mickey's Irish Pub is hosting a costume contest Friday and Saturday night. Come in costume and receive a free pint. There will be prizes — $100 for best costume and $50 bar tab for staff favorite — beginning at 9 p.m. each evening.

Saturday

Bring the whole family to Kindermusik's Fall Family Music Night at the Saturday at 3:30 p.m. for some not-so-spooky family fun. Children are welcome to wear costumes as they celebrate the season Kindermusik-style. There will be games, activities, treats, and crafts beginning at 3:30. Participants will gather at 4:15 p.m. for a Halloween-themed Kindermusik class. The event is free and open to the public.

The and want you to celebrate a Healthy Halloween at the Waukee Family YMCA Saturday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There will be activities for parents and kids. You can trick-or-treat through the creepy corridors of the YMCA, find your way out of the obstinant obstacle course, do the “Frankenstein” at the Monster Mash Dance Party, sing and dance around the “campfire” with Jason Walsmith and Mike Butterworth of the Nadas, create your own cackle crunch (trail mix) and witches’ brew, learn to stay safe from fiery flames in the Blank Children’s Hospital Fire Safety House and show off your costumes. The first 500 children (ages 12 and under) will receive a commemorative trick-or-treat bag!

Sunday

Come to the Waukee Family YMCA on Sunday for the "Run Before the Boo," a 5K, 1-mile walk or 50-yard kids' dash. Costumes are welcome. Registration and packet pick-up starts at 1 p.m., with the 5K starting at 2 p.m.

Beggars' Night for the City of Waukee will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
