High Wind Warning and More Storms Possible Today in Waukee

After an evening of severe weather that caused damage across the Des Moines metro, Waukee is in a high wind warning and should be on the lookout for more storms today.

After an evening of intense storms accompanied by high winds and torrential rain, comes the news that Waukee could get another round of severe weather today.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the city of Waukee and is predicting a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms that could become severe.

The upside? The rest of the day will be partyly sunny with a high near 73. Great weather to get outside and start the clean-up from yesterday's storms.

The forecast for today and Monday is as follows:

Today: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe. Partly sunny, with a high near 73. Windy, with a south wind between 29 and 34 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Windy, with a west southwest wind between 22 and 28 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 57. Windy, with a west northwest wind between 17 and 26 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.

Monday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. West northwest wind between 10 and 13 mph becoming calm.
