"It’s a great way to support the library," said Waukee Public Library director Erik Surber. "In one sense it means a lot monetarily. In a larger sense, it's really fun to see how the community comes together - whether that's donating a tree or just enjoying the atmosphere - everyone is supportive of the library."

On Saturday, Santa and his helpers will descend upon the library for a little holiday fun. From 10 a.m. to noon, kids of all ages can join Santa Claus for fun holiday crafts, a cup of hot chocolate and candy canes.

"It's been a Waukee tradition for a long time," says Waukee Public Library youth services coordinator Erin McDonough. "We get tons of kids who come and make little gifts for their friends and family. We have a really good time."

There is no charge to attend Santa's Workshop and registration is not required.
