More Thunderstorms Likely In Waukee This Afternoon, Tonight

A couple rounds of thunderstorms have already moved through the Waukee and metro areas this today.

More is likely on the way this afternoon and into tonight.

While the National Weather Service has said the storms likely won't produce tornadoes, heavy rains and hail are possible across much of central Iowa.

Most of the storms are forecast to remain below severe limits.

Here's a brief look at how the day's weather is likely to unfold:

Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4 p.m. High near 64 degrees. South wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers, mainly before 7 p.m. Low around 40. Breezy, with a north northwest wind between 11 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
