Parents Talk: Where Do You Draw the Line on Fundraisers?
In this week's installment of Parents Talk, we ask parents for suggestions on how to limit the number of fundraisers their kids participate in.

Parents Talk is a weekly feature on Iowa Patch where we reach out to those moms, dads, grandparents, etc. looking for resources and information (or maybe just a sounding board) to talk about parenting. We invite and encourage you to tell your friends about Parents Talk, too. After all, we can’t build a community without your help. We hope that you will contribute your ideas, questions, anecdotes and advice to other parents in your hometown.
In the next few months, we will also be organizing a Parents Council that will help answer some of your questions and offer practical, real world solutions. The council will consist of experts (see: other parents) who can speak firsthand about everything from potty training to the best pediatricians to surviving driver’s education with a teenager.
We hope you’ll use Parents Talk as one of the many resources you can find for raising happy, healthy children.

The school year has just started and we have already been bombarded with fundraisers. We value and support the school and all the extra-curricular clubs and activities our children participate in but the fundraisers are too much. How do we say no to the constant fundraising efforts and the solicitation from others?
