Point of Grace Offers Counseling for Grieving Students Tonight

Point of Grace Church is offering counseling for those grieving over the loss of two Johnston students this weekend tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Parents and students who passed away over the weekend are encouraged to attend a grief counseling and support session tonight at Point of Grace Church in Waukee at 6:30 p.m.

Cameron Carico, a freshman at Johnston Middle School, died Saturday morning, while Spenser Nelson, a sophomore at Johnston High School, died Sunday night. The two deaths are unrelated and are both being called a suicide.

Point of Grace Church representatives will be on hand for counseling, support and discussion in regard to the recent tragedies. It is available to the entire community.

A candlelight vigil for Carico is planned for 7 p.m. tonight at Oakwood Methodist Church, 400 N.E. 56th St. in Pleasant Hill.

A candle-lighting ceremony in memor of Spenser Nelson will be held next week, at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at Hanes Park in Altoona.
