Today is Presidents Day. Take a look at what's open and what's closed in Waukee.

Did you know that today is Presidents Day?
Formerly known as George Washington's birthday, Presidents Day is celebrated the third Monday of February and is considered a federal holiday.
Many state and federal offices are closed today. In Waukee, all city offices are also closed in observance of the holiday. Although the Waukee City Council typically meets on the first and third Mondays of the month, the City Council will not meet tonight. The meeting has been rescheduled for Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m.

Today is also a postal holiday which means there is no mail delivery today. Delivery will resume tomorrow.
There is no delay in garbage collection today. Pick-ups are as scheduled.

Students in the Waukee School District are in class today. There is no early dismissal due to the holiday.
The Waukee Public Library will also be closed today in observance of the Presidents Day holiday. The Library will reopen Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
According to the Iowa Bankers Association, approximately 87 percent of Iowa banks will be closed today though some banks in Waukee will remain open. The following is a list of Waukee banks and their hours, if open, today.
West Bank - open, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Charter Bank - closed
Peoples Trust & Savings Bank - closed
Community State Bank - open - drive-up, 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.; lobby, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
First American Bank - open - drive- up, 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; lobby, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Wells Fargo - open - 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
