Rain Today, Early Out and a Basketball Tournament Among Five Things You Should Know Today

1) Today's Weather

Expect scattered showers today with thunderstorms possible after 3 p.m. Otherwise cloudy with a high near 62. Tonight, more rain is likely as well as a slight chance of snow. Expect a low around 31.

2) Activities at the Waukee Public Library

Looking for some fun for the kids today? Check out Playful Preschoolers at 10 a.m. at the . Playful Preschoolers is for children ages 3 to 6. It includes read-aloud stories, songs and rhymes followed by a craft.

Babies and Books also meets at 10 a.m. It's for pre-walkers (babies approximately birth to 18 mos.) with a caregiver. There will be songs, books and rhymes. Only one child per caregiver is recommended.

There will be a Teen Movie showing today at 1:30 p.m. The Library will be showing "The Help."

3) Early Dismissal

Don't forget! Today is early dismissal for all Waukee Schools. Elementary schools will dismiss today at 1:40 p.m. Secondary schools dismiss at 12:50 p.m.

4) Waukee Athletic Booster Club Meeting

The Waukee Athletic Booster Club will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Waukee High School commons. The Booster Club meets the first Wednesday of every month.

5) Waukee Boys Basketball at Iowa High School State Tournament

The Waukee boys basketball team will face Iowa City West tonight in the quarterfinal round of the Iowa State High School Boys Basketball Tournament. Tip off is at 8:15 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines.
