Waukee Safety City Registration Deadline Looms for Summer Sessions
There are still spots left for the Waukee Police Department's Safety City session this summer. Deadline to sign up is May 11.

Final sign up is quickly approaching for parents wishing to enroll their 2012 kindergarteners in the ’s Safety City session.Â
Sign up ends on May 11 for the summer Safety City classes. Safety City classes will be held June 11-15, June 18-22 and June 25-June 29 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. There is a $50 fee to attend.

Class 5 is full at this time. Due to many classes being close to full, parents are asked to put down the order in which class they would like the pre-kindergarten student to attend.
Safety City will include instruction on subjects such as:

- Bullying
- Pedestrian Rules
- Street Crossing
- Stop Lights
- McGruff Houses
- Poisons and Drug Abuse
- Bus Rules
- 911
- Respect for Authority
- Seatbelts
- Bike Safety
- And more!
Each student will receive a bicycle helmet and t-shirt. Classes will visit the Waukee Police and Fire Department for tours.
A miniature ‘city’ will be used to teach students correct street crossing techniques using both tricycles (as vehicles) and by walking.
Students will learn songs about safety and have much one on one contact with volunteers during this weekly course. There will also be a short graduation ceremony at the end of the class.
We look forward to this program educating our pre-kindergarten student’s to prepare them for obstacles they will meet both on the street and in the schools.
