Waukee Weighs In: 'What Do You Want for Christmas?'

Everybody wants a little something for Christmas. We asked city leaders, school officials, business owners and residents what they asked Santa for this year.

Christmas is a time for giving but it's also nice to receive a little something too.

We asked some of Waukee's finest - city leaders, school administrators, teachers, business owners and residents - what they asked Santa Claus for this year.

Dave Wilkerson, Waukee Schools superintendent

"I really haven't asked for anything but since the St. Louis Cardinals delivered #11 in 2011, #12 in 2012 would sure be nice."

Jerry Ripperger, Waukee School Board president

"That all may have the freedom to practice their religion, have good health, receive proper nutrition, participate in quality education so that they can reach their potential."

Shane Blanchard, Waukee City Councilman

"New toaster, homemade ice cream machine, Bass Pro Shop gift card, and a membership at a health facility."

Terry Snyder, photographer and Waukee Chamber ambassador

"A clean house from top to bottom and a good job for my son and daughter-in-law!"

Devon Murphy-Petersen, Waukee Public Library

"I asked Santa for another full-time staff member for the Waukee Public Library. The number of people we serve keeps going up and up.  All of our staff really wants to continue to give great service - another staff member would be priceless."

Terry Hurlburt, principal at Brookview Elementary

"That is a tough one.  I really have only asked for safe travel for all of our family and friends.  Oh, and a Cyclone victory would be good too!"
