The Daily Dose: Summer Begins, A Reading Program, Girls Golf and More
Here's your Daily Dose of random to kick off the short work week. You're welcome.

Well, it's officially summer. Sort of. Well, not technically, but it might as well be. The kids are out of school, summer activities like swim lessons and summer camps have begun. I don't know about you, but all that screams summer break to me.
The reason this was on my mind? Duh. Memorial Day. Like every other holiday that falls on a Monday, I'm always a bit confused on what I should be doing that day. Work, play, relax? It's pretty much whatever fits the bill that day. And my kids are always quick to remind me that it's the start of summer break. Good to know.
Speaking of summer break activities, if you're looking for a great way to kick-off summer with the kiddos, you should scoot on over to the this week to sign them up for the Library's Summer Reading Program. It's free and will keep your kids learning and churning through books all summer long. We won't bother to mention that it's good for them, too.

Before I forget, if you managed to get out and do a little yard work over the long weekend, go ahead and put your yard waste out now. Pick-up is today. Just about slipped my mind. Sorry about that.
Also today, the Waukee High School girls varsity golf team will compete in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State tournament today and tomorrow at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.
