Waukee Weather: Thunderstorms in February? Why Not?
The National Weather Service is predicting thunderstorms in central Iowa tonight. With the odd weather we had this winter, is anyone surprised?

Brace yourselves, Waukee. We're in for a possible thunderstorm tonight.
Yes, a thunderstorm. In February.
"We are getting into the spring season. This is when we start seeing thunderstorms," said David Sheets, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Davenport.

The National Weather Service says Waukee residents can expect rain before 9 p.m. tonight and then possibly a thunderstorm between 9 p.m. and midnight. Lows are expected in the mid 30s.
Sheets said severe storms are not expected, but there is a low probability of hail and wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Further west in Southwest Iowa, Nebraska and Western Missouri, there is a greater probability of severe weather.
