Something Stinks in Arrest of Two Teenagers in Waukee

Waukee police responded to a number of calls Feb. 13-19, including several traffic accidents. One traffic stop resulted in the arrest of two area teenagers.

Two Teens Charged With Possession During Traffic Stop

In the early morning hours of Feb. 19, Waukee Police pulled over a vehicle in the first block of Hickman Road without a license plate light.

During the stop, officers reportedly detected the smell of both marijuana and alcohol eminating from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was performed resulting in the arrest of two central Iowa teenagers.

Ryan Janis, 18, of Van Meter was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Janis' passenger, 18-year-old Amy Wright of Earlham, was charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Feb. 13

A vehicle driven by Jessica Chandrasekharan of Grimes was struck by a vehicle driven by Mindy Witt of West Des Moines. Vehicle damage was estimated at $2,500. Witt was cited for failure to maintain control.

A vehicle driven by Tanya Bakalar of Stuart was struck by a vehicle driven by Lucas Anderson of Adel. Vehicle damage was estimated at $5,000. Anderson was cited for failure to maintain control.

Russell Edgington of Waukee reported the theft of a license plate in the 700 block of Locust Street.

A vehicle driven by Samuel Anderson Marcsisak of Waukee collided with a vehicle driven by Aimee Davis of Waukee. Vehicle damage was estimated at $1,000.

Feb. 16

An employe of Stivers Ford of Waukee reported vandalism to a vehicle in the 1400 block of Hickman Road.

Feb. 17

A vehicle driven by Binh Trac of Waukee struck a deer. Vehicle damage was estimated at $2,000.

Casey Jones, 21, of Pendleton, IN, was charged with driving while barred. Jones was also cited for speeding.

A vehicle driven by Lani Bennett of Waukee was struck by a vehicle driven by Kaylie Coats of Waukee. Vehicle damage was estimated at $2,000. Coats was cited for failure to maintain control.

Feb. 18

Birney Baker of Waukee reported a vehicle taken without the owner's consent in the 400 block of Northview Drive.

Feb. 19

April Hanley, 38, of DeSoto was charged with driving while suspended.
