Ninth-Grader Puts Up His Dukes, Ends Up Under Arrest

The Waukee Police Department responded to a handful of calls the week of Feb. 21-26 including several traffic accidents, an OWI and cases of assault.

Ninth-Grader Arrested for Serious Assault

Waukee Police were called to at 11:45 a.m. on Feb. 22 in reponse to a scuffle between students.

A 15-year-old boy tried provoking another male student to fight by striking him in the face several times.

No medical assistance was necessary. The 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with serious assault.

Feb. 21

Luke Jennings, 32, of Van Meter was charged with operating while intoxicated (first offense).

A vehicle driven by Jill Vaught of Fort Dodge was struck by a deer. Vehicle damage was estimated at $1,000.

Feb. 22

Garrett Slaybaugh of Waukee reported criminal mischief to a vehicle in the 500 block of Southeast University Avenue.

A vehicle driven by Lisa Glas of Waukee was struck by a vehicle driven by Amy Marcotte of Waukee. Vehicle damage was estimated at $1,500. Marcotte was cited for failure to stop in an assured clear distance.

Feb. 23

A vehicle driven by Russell Bailey of Waukee was struck by a vehicle driven by Ross Cunningham of Waukee. Vehicle damage was estimated at $900.

Feb. 24

A vehicle driven by Paula Grapp of Adel was struck by a vehicle driven by Brianna Marvin of Adel. Vehicle damage was estimated at $5,000. Marvin was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

Richard Skuya of Waukee reported criminal mischief to a mailbox in the 1000 block of Indigo Lane.

Feb. 25

A 16-year-old male from Dallas Center was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Feb. 26

Britney Leimer, 23, of Waukee was arrested on a Clive Police Department warrant for fraud.

Walter Leimer of Clive reported someone driving a vehicle without the owner's consent in the 700 block of Collins Drive.
