Waukee Schools Warn Parents of Suspicious Activity

Waukee Schools forwarded an e-mail to parents of young children today asking them to speak to their children about stranger danger after West Des Moines Police received reports of suspicious activity there.

Parents of children in the received an e-mail today asking them to talk to their children about stranger danger after two men reportedly attempted to lure a child into a van in West Des Moines.

The incident occurred Monday in the 5400 block of Cody Drive. Two men approached a 10-year-old boy on his bike and attempted to lure him into a white van. The boy declined and rode off.

Suspicious Vehicle/Activity 

On Monday, 09-26-11, at approximately 6:15 PM, a 10 year-old boy was riding his bike in the 5400 block of Cody Dr. when he was approached by two subjects driving a white van. The two told the ten year old that if he was lost that he needed to get in the van and they would give him a ride home. The boy declined and rode off.

The van was described as a white panel van with what appeared to be blue lettering on the side that had been painted over but could still be seen. The steering wheel had an orange fur type cover and the driver’s seat had a black cover with white polka dots.

The two subjects in the van were described as both being white males in their 40’s or 50’s with grey hair.
