Waukee Seeks Citizen Volunteers for Community Action Groups

The city of Waukee is looking for dedicated volunteers to sit on its various boards, commissions and committees.

The today announced it's seeking citizen volunteers for vacancies on the city's appointed boards, commissions and other committees.

Spots are available on the following boards and committees (terms and duties of the job are also as listed):

  • Board of Adjustment (5-year term) - Board meets as needed and is responsible for reviewing requests for variances to official Zoning Ordinances of the city.
  • Board of Appeals (5-year term) - Board meets as needed (June appointment) and reviews requests for variances from the Waukee Building Code.
  • Waukee Park Board (3-year term) - Board meets every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month and is responsible for reviewing proposals related improvements made to the Waukee park system.
  • Planning & Zoning Commission (5-year term) - Commission meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month and considers rezoning, preliminary and final plats, site plans, and certain ordinance changes.
  • Utilities Committee (3-year term) - Committee meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month and is responsible for reviewing all services and charges related to the municipal utility services provided by the city.

All applicants must be Waukee residents and 18 years old to apply. All positions are unpaid and time commitments vary based on the individual agendas.

Submit completed applications to Becky Schuett, Waukee City Hall, 230 W. Hickman Road by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, for Park Board and Friday, Dec. 2, for all other boards of interest. All applications are subject to the open record laws of the State of Iowa.
