The individual races were equally as impressive with Colin Murphy moving up a spot in the 100 yard butterfly from his seed placing 22nd overall. Ian Murphy also had a great performance in the 100 yard freestyle placing 20th overall and Jordan Reinard earned an 8th place medal in the 200 IM in school record time (1:57.59) and is Waukee’s first all-state swimmer in the 100 yard breaststroke. His school record time of :59.71 was good enough for 4th place at the state meet and second team all-state honors.Â
This year’s squad did a fantastic job not only stepping up their level of competition, but reaped the benefits of hard work and dedication to the sport. We had several guys with perfect attendance to both morning and afternoon workouts and found themselves in the weight room a whole lot more than last season.Â

We had an incredible second year and will miss senior Ian Murphy more than anyone can calculate. His strong swims added a great role to this year’s team, but there is not a more genuine guy out there that cares for his teammates and his team. His goals are very loft both athletically and academically and it is tough to find people that can excel in both venues at the same time. Ian is a rare two-year captain and a four year letter winner swimming for Dowling, Johnston and Waukee.Â
All of the other state qualifiers will return for next year’s team.Â
