Waukee Week in Review: A Forum, an Author, a Crusader and a Walk

In case you missed something, here's a recap of the news and events from Waukee Patch for the week of Oct. 3 - 9.

1) On Monday, freelance writer Dave Dolmage introduced you to our business of the week, .

2) Tuesday, the was held at the Waukee City Council Chambers. Three candidates for city council and the two candidates for mayor of Waukee debated on everything from property taxes to the Alice's Road corridor project.

3) Wednesday, children's author was in town speaking to three Waukee elementary schools about what it's like to be an author. Pallotta spoke at Shuler, Brookview and Walnut Hills Elementary schools.

4) Also Wednesday, we told you about Katie Mangan, a breast cancer survivor and , a walk/run event raising money for women in central Iowa who are battling breast cancer.

5) On Thursday, freelancer Amy Dix introduced you to Notable Neighbor , owner of American Professional Nannies. Wilson places nannies with families in the central Iowa area.

6) Also Thursday, we told you about Jnewest location on Warrior Lane across from the Waukee YMCA. It's expected to open for business this week.

7) On Friday, we posted a gallery of photos from the first  event in Centennial Park. The walk was a part of the , a statewide effort to encourage healthier living.

8) Also Friday, freelance writer T.J. Rushing told you about the W at Fort Dodge that evening. The Warriors rolled over the Dodgers, 42-21.

9) On Saturday, we gave you a glimpse of the where the Waukee Warriors Marching Band took home first place.
