Wellness by Wicks Nudges Jane & Friends for the Win in Patch's "Best Place to Pamper Mom" Contest

No one could have predicted the outcome of Patch's latest Readers' Choice contest.

Jane & Friends Salon and Spa was leading in Patch's "Best Place to Pamper Mom" contest until fans of Wellness by Wicks made their move and pulled out a win with just two votes. 

With 21 of 54 votes, took the overall title of "Best Place to Pamper Mom" in Waukee.

Wellness by Wicks, located at 460 Sixth St., just off the downtown Triangle, offers massage therapy benefiting people from all walks of life. In a September , Wellness by Wicks owner Trisha Wicks said there are a number of benefits to massage, including stress relief, improving mobility, increasing circulation, and simulating the immune system.

The business offers 1½-hour massages for $85, hour-long sessions for $55 and a 30-minute massage for $30.

Wicks said owning her own business, especially one that involves doing something you enjoy doing, is satisfying on many levels. 

“I don’t have the Sunday night blues,” Wicks said of being a small business owner. “There’s something about owning your own business that’s very satisfying.”
