What's Up This Weekend in Waukee?

Here's everything you need to know this weekend, March 9-11, and some other stuff, too.

Friday: The Des Moines Symphony at Waukee High School

For the second year, the Des Moines Symphony will perform a special concert at tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the auditorium.

Grammy-nominated and Avery Fisher Prize-winning American violinist, Jennifer Frautschi makes her Iowa debut collaborating with Joseph Giunta and the Orchestra in Barber’s tuneful and rhythmic Violin Concerto. The Orchestra also performs Tchaikovsky’s great last symphony, the Pathetique, the composer’s most soul-searching musical evocation.

Saturday: Monkey Monkey Monkey at Mickey's Irish Pub

Des Moines-based cover band, Monkey Monkey Monkey will play some of the most popular music from the 1960s to today Saturday night at . Formerly with The Flying Marsupials, Lance Eaton, Mark Leeper and Andy TeBockhorst have been playing together in central Iowa for well over a decade. The music is fun, full, familiar and very danceable.

Monkey Monkey Monkey takes the stage at 9 p.m. at Mickey's Irish Pub.

Saturday: Fueling Peak Performance at Absolute Performance Therapy

will host a free seminar on how nutrition and resistance training can effect athletic performance on Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
