Winter Storm Magnus Causing Travel Delays; Check Airport and Road Conditions Before Heading Out

If you're flying out of Des Moines International Airport, you will want to contact your airline to check on departure times, and if you're heading on the road, be careful.

Icy road ways and blowing snow are causing problems on Iowa roadways, but the airport has also been affected. 

The Des Moines International Airport is reporting excessive delays for flights today.

Current conditions are icy with little visibility.

Several flights are delayed more than 45 minutes, while a few to Chicago have even been canceled.

In Des Moines, winds are gusting up to 28 miles per hour, with a steady snow fall.

Snow will taper off around 11 a.m., Weather.com reports.

Winter Storm Magnus is currently hitting most of the midwest.

Heavy snow is stretching from Iowa to Central Wisconsin into upper Michigan. Cities affected include: Kansas City, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Madison and Green Bay.
