The Paducah Police and Fire Departments work together in harmony on the scene of fires and other public safety incidents. But later this month, they are asking the public to witness a “battle” between them on a softball field. Battle of the Badges will be on Sunday, August 29 at Stuart Nelson Park. The event begins at 3 p.m. with the slow pitch softball game starting at 4 p.m.

Admission is free; however, all donations and proceeds from concessions will be provided to local charities as decided by each department.

Paducah Police Officer Dylan Cook said, “At the Paducah Police Department, we strive to have a great relationship with the community and other departments that we work with. When you have a public event between two city departments, you can build those relationships. We hope to have a great turn out and receive donations for area charities.”

Both departments hope that the Battle of the Badges will become an annual tradition.
