BATON ROUGE, LA -- The nation is about to celebrate its 241st birthday, and it's time to watch the glorious explosions we know as fireworks. Events in the Baton Rouge area range from simple fireworks shows to day-long extravaganzas.

- At the U.S. Kidd on the Mississippi River. 11 a.m. start time. Fireworks over the river at 9 p.m.

- South Baton Rouge. Pool party, live music, and more fireworks!

- Red, White and the Blues
- A bit of a classy event. At the LSU Museum of Art and Tsunami. Southern BBQ from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Local jazz and blues. Watch the fireworks from the rooftop of the Shaw Center. Ages 5-20 are $50. 21+ members cost $125, non-members cost $150. Drinks included.
