- The Baton Rouge Police HQ evacuated at 12:20 p.m. on Jun. 16 as a precaution after a civilian discovered explosive material in a locker and brought it to HQ for help with disposal. According to BRPD, the item was some sort of explosive training equipment. The all-clear was given and BRPD personnel returned to their offices. (WAFB)
- The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Akiyah Dorsey that occurred on North Parkview Drive on Jun. 16. Police arrested 26-year-old Khalil Holmes, who was reportedly in a relationship with Dorsey, and charged Holmes with negligent homicide. (WAFB)
- On Jun. 15, Baton Rouge Police arrested 20-year-old George Quinones IV in connection to a fatal drive-by shooting on May 30. Quinones became a suspect after deputies found a social media post of Quinones and two others posing with the weapons used in the crime and then matched DNA evidence at the crime scene with Quinones. The Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness urges residents to take steps to protect themselves due to the data breach.
