- 26-year-old Reginique Green and 19-year-old George Quinones IV were arrested due to their involvement in a drive-by shooting off of the 6500 block of Greenwell Street which took place on Tuesday, May 30 around 2:40 p.m. At the scene, there was a vehicle with bullet indents and it was upside down in a ditch. This incident resulted in the death of a 35-year-old female due to her injuries. As of Jun. 16, Green remains in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with a $1,500,000 bond. (BRProud.com)
- The Baton Rouge African American Museum celebrated the groundbreaking of its new location on Monday, Jun. 19. Attendees joyfully marched from 538 South Boulevard to 805 South Louis Street, accompanied by a second line and paraders, marking a significant homecoming for American and African American historical artifacts. - On Saturday, Jun. 17, around 2:45 p.m. the Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to an Aldrich Drive home fire down the road near College Drive. According to authorities, the home was vacant when they found smoke and fire coming from a bedroom window. It was declared to be an arson case by fire investigators and resulted in a total loss.
