Here are the top three stories today in Baton Rouge:

  1. A California man was booked in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison earlier this week as he allegedly engaged in indecent behavior with children from Baton Rouge over social media. Timothy Asmus was arrested on Tuesday by detectives for an incident that occurred back in February where he allegedly joined a Snapchat group chat with a 12-year-old boy who lives in Baton Rouge and was naked masturbating. The victim recorded this behavior and turned it over to law enforcement who were able to track it back to Asmus's home in Oxnard, CA. (WAFB)
  2. This summer Dana Hayes and her non-profit will be running Junior Cosmetology which is a summer camp for girls seven to 17 interested in learning the basics of cosmetology and doing hair. Hayes began her journey of learning cosmetology and styling hair at the age of 10 when her mother began teaching her the craft. Her mother ran a salon in Port Allen for 40 years. The camp will give the participants the feeling of a true stylist, from wearing black to getting their own mannequin, stand, and styling products and tools. The summer camp will run in two different sessions, one in June and one in July. Any parents interested in signing up their children can register at the link here or contact Hayes directly at (225) 377-6033. (BRProud.com)
  3. Baton Rouge detectives are currently working on an incident where two children were allegedly suffering from severe gunshot wounds that were not reported or treated over a period of time. Several wounds were found on a three-year-old and six-year-old child after they were picked up by a guardian from a relative's house they stayed with for the weekend. Detectives believe one of the children found a Draco AK-47 and fired it inside the home, injuring both children. When they were bought to the hospital Monday night, both were deemed to be in non-life-threatening condition. Thankfully, police are still investigating potential charges before bringing the accused into custody. (WAFB)
