Here are the top three stories in Baton Rouge today:

  1. Multiple people were shot and one person is in critical condition after a shooting on Lorraine Street on Sunday. Emergency medical services reported that multiple people were shot on Lorraine in an incident that spanned multiple blocks. There is no known suspect or motive at this time. (WAFB)
  2. About 100 educators from around Louisiana came to Baton Rouge this weekend for the Louisiana Association of Educators’ 45th assembly. The teachers and professionals came together for the purpose of bettering classrooms across the state. A central issue for the assembly was the shortage of educational professionals, including teachers, bus drivers, custodians, child nutritionists and paraprofessionals. (WAFB)
  3. According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, a home on Hollywood Street went up in flames due to an unattended frying pan. A person was reportedly frying food in the garage when the pan was left alone. The other residents noticed the garage was on fire and evacuated the home. (WBRZ)

  • The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office declared Saturday’s Egg-stravaganza a success. Community members came together for the event hosted by the Sheriff’s office and an organization called Garden Initiative. The event featured Easter baskets, haircuts, vaccinations, and health screenings. (WAFB)
  • East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance identifying suspects in a theft case. According to EBRSO, the suspects are two women who allegedly took a purse from a car at the Circle K on the 5000 block of Jones Creek. The theft took place on Saturday afternoon.
