- Five individuals have been arrested in Baton Rouge following a month-long investigation by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division. The suspects are accused of selling drugs in the area, and significant quantities of cocaine, marijuana, and a firearm were seized during the operation. The arrested individuals include Sedrick Willis, who is believed to be the leader of a crack cocaine distribution organization, as well as Anthony Weathers, Michelle Levine, Tanina Hinton, and James Quinn. - A 20-year-old Baton Rouge resident, Keshawn Kelly, pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting and threatening federal officers in a standoff incident at the New Orleans VA Medical Center. Kelly possessed a loaded AR-15 rifle during the 21-minute confrontation and made threats to harm the officers involved. The sentencing for Kelly is set for Oct. 3, and he could face up to six years in prison for influencing federal officials by threat and up to one year for assaulting federal officers, along with fines and supervised release. - Two individuals, identified as 28-year-old Kymber Nezat of Baton Rouge and 82-year-old Albert Bordelon of Plaucheville, lost their lives in a three-vehicle crash on LA 1 in Pointe Coupee Parish. The crash occurred when a Mercedes Benz Sprinter, serving as an Acadian Ambulance unit, rear-ended a Nissan Altima, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer, resulting in fatalities and injuries. - Gracie, an adorable 8- to 10-week-old puppy weighing nine pounds, is available for adoption at Friends of the Animals. She is spayed, microchipped, and waiting to bring cuddly cuteness into someone's life. Interested individuals can meet Gracie in person and apply to adopt her.
