  1. A new custom pizza place is planning to open in Baton Rouge. Town Square Pizza will replace Sadafs Cafe near downtown Baton Rouge and plans to be open daily. Construction is set to begin in February, though an opening date has not yet (BRProud.com)
  2. A Baton Rouge man has been arrested after allegedly shooting at a neighbor whose dog had gotten out of her yard. The incident occurred at a residence on Julia Street around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Police arrested 20-year-old Larry Darnell Lanus Jr., who was also wanted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office for attempted first-degree murder for a separate incident. (WAFB)
  3. It's official: the City of Baton Rouge experienced its hottest June on record. The average daily temperature reached 84.2 degrees this year, topping the previous record of 83.9 degrees that was achieved in both 2022 and 1990. On Thursday, Jun. 29, the city led the list of 91 U.S. cities forecasting dangerous heat, reaching a projected heat index of 117 degrees. (Greater Baton Rouge Business Report)
