Dispatched at 12:38 am, firefighters arrived on the scene of 436 Flood St. at 12:44 am. Upon NOFD arrival, fire was already extending through the roof of the abandoned two-story dwelling. Taking into account the size of the structure, a second alarm was requested at 12:51 am. Fifteen NOFD units carrying forty-one Fire Operations personnel were used to bring this incident under control at 2:21 am. This was the second time firefighters had responded to this address this evening. Just over an hour earlier firefighters had extinguished a small fire in another area of the property.
There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported in any of these incidents. Although all of the incidents of the evening are being thoroughly investigated, dry weather conditions and the prevalent use of illegal fireworks cannot be overlooked.
