Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:
- The New Orleans City Council has set a meeting to question the Orleans Parish Communication District over concerns on its 911 call operations. Just last month, a story of a woman who called 911 when her son was shot emerged where the mother was forced to bring him to the hospital herself because the ambulance was taking too long. (WDSU New Orleans)
- Severe corrosion was found at the end of pumps in the Orleans flood protection system by the Army Corps of Engineers. Repairs have been scheduled to rectify this weak spot ahead of hurricane season. The corrosion was discovered on the London Avenue pump just five years after the station's turnover was complete. (NOLA.com)
- Mayor LaToya Cantrell has filed a lawsuit to prevent the recall effort from going to a vote. The lawsuit wants the petition to be declared null and void, citing issues on the lowered threshold of signatures needed and the judge who signed off on both the threshold and the petition itself. (WDSU)
