- New, and some say controversial, regulations on Short Term Rentals in the City of New Orleans were passed by City Council on Thursday. This recent amendment will allow only three short term rentals per city square. The first rental permit will have to be obtained by a lottery system and the two subsequent ones will be given through a special exemption application. On top of a few other parameters, these new regulations will go into effect on July 1. (WDSU New Orleans)
- An extension of the current interim position of the New Orleans Police Department superintendent was approved by city council on Thursday. Michelle Woodfork will serve in her position for at least six more months while the city continues to search for a replacement for her predecessor, Shaun Ferguson, who stepped down in December. (WDSU New Orleans)
- A NOPD officer and captain are both under investigation by the Public Integrity Bureau after a man allegedly bled to death on the steps of a home after being shot and police did nothing to help. The family of the victim claims that the officers prevented anyone else from helping the victim, who was eventually transported to a hospital where he died. (WDSU New Orleans)
