Louisiana Judge Blocks Abortion Ban After Supreme Court Decision
An Orleans Parish Civil District Court judge issued a temporary restraining order Monday on Louisiana's three abortion ban trigger laws.

NEW ORLEANS, LA — A Louisiana judge issued a temporary restraining order Monday blocking the state from enforcing abortion bans set to take effect following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision Friday overturning Roe v. Wade.
The order was granted by Orleans Parish Civil District Court Judge Robin Giarrusso after Hope Medical Group for Women, an abortion clinic in Shreveport, filed suit, court documents show. Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Courtney Phillips, head of the state's Department of Health, were named defendants in the lawsuit.
The plaintiffs argued that the state's three trigger laws are unclear on enforcement and what exceptions are allowed.

Hope Medical Group said it will resume performing procedures Tuesday.
"We’re going to do what we can," Kathaleen Pittman, a Hope Medical Group administrator named a plaintiff in the lawsuit, told The Associated Press. "It could all come to a screeching halt."
