On Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 1:05 pm, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 911 call reporting a fire at a home in the 1400 block of Ptolemy St in Algiers. Dispatched immediately, the first NOFD company arrived on the scene of 1422 Ptolemy St at 1:09 pm and found an occupied two-story, single-family home with heavy smoke and visible flames extending from the rear of the property. A large, detached shed and/or a large utility truck parked behind the shed are believed to be the areas of origin. Both the shed and the truck were consumed almost completely in the fire. The fire did extend into the rear of the home, but firefighters were able to minimize the fire’s spread into the dwelling.
