On Thursday, November 25, 2021 at 4:48 pm the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 911 call reporting a building fire at the corner of George Nick Conner and Hope Streets. The first NOFD company arrived on the scene at 4:51 pm and noticed smoke coming from second floor rear windows of St. Augustine High School. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the schools second floor gymnasium. The school was closed for the holiday with no one in the building at the time the fire was reported.

Seven NOFD companies supported by twenty-one NOFD Fire Operations personnel were used to bring this incident under control at 5:32 pm. There were no firefighter injuries reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
