Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:

  1. A fatal stabbing left one man dead in New Orleans East on Tuesday. Around 2 a.m. a man was stabbed multiple times on Morrison Road. Detectives originally classified the incident as a shooting death, but corrected it to a stabbing afterwards. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. A recent spike in shootings involving New Orleans juveniles has prompted New Orleans City Council to reconsider the city's policies on gun ownership. Currently, officers can issue a summons if a gun owner's firearm injures or kills a juvenile, but the council is considering amending the ordinance to give officers the ability to arrest firearm owners if improper storage leads to either of these outcomes in addition to a fee if guns are found stored carelessly.   3. In the aftermath of blowback after 15 gun charges were refused during Mardi Gras, the New Orleans DA has announced a partnership with the Morris Bart's Law Firm to help take on some of the caseloads. DA Jason Williams stated that is office is reviewing the Magistrate Court transcripts from when the assistant DA refused the gun charges. (FOX 8 Local First)
