Maine's First Costco Is Coming To Scarborough

Scarborough planning officials approved the location in a unanimous decision Monday.

SCARBOROUGH, ME — Costco is coming to Maine after officials approved plans allowing the company to build a warehouse in Scarborough, located just south of Portland, according to a report by the Portland Press Herald.

The Scarborough warehouse will be Maine's first Costco location, the Press Herald reported. It will be constructed within The Downs development, and must still receive approval from the state Department of Environmental Protection.

No opening date has been announced.

Costco operates more than 800 locations in several countries, including nearly 600 in the United States and Puerto Rico. The membership-only retail store sells a variety of merchandise including groceries, clothing, books, housewares and more.
